20 injured in clash over land in Savar

At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two groups of people over taking possession of a piece of land at Shyampur village in Savar upazila on Friday night. Quoting locals, police said there had been a longstanding rivalry between Mahsin Mandol and Shahjahan over the ownership of a piece of land at the village. A clash ensued as men of Shahjahan obstructed the Mahsin group when they tried to hang a signboard on the disputed land at about 10:30pm. At one stage, supporters of the two men equipped with firearms and other weapons and attacked each other, leaving 20 people injured. Being informed, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, according to UNB.
