20 injured over occupying Pabna waterbody

PABNA, Feb 10: At least 20 people were injured as the landless people of two villages clashed over capturing a waterbody in Shorgram village of Ataikula thana under the district Monday morning.
Police and the locals said, the landless people of Shorgram and Haripur village had a long standing feud for occupying 19 bighas of khas waterbody in Haripur village of the district. Villagers of both villages locked into a clash with lethal weapons Monday morning for occupying the waterbody, leaving 20 injured.
Of the injured 10 were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital. They are Md Amzad Hossain, 40, Monirul Islam, 30, Abdus Sattar, 50, Tarikul Islam, 30, Montu Sardar, 45, Abdul Based, 32, Romzan Ali, 35, Liton Hossain, 30, Sattar Khan, 50 and Mohidul Islam, 35 of both Shorgram and Haripur village.
Officer-in-charge of Ataikula police station, Md. Akram Hossain said the police is investigating into the incident. No case was filed till afternoon Monday.
