Sunday, 5 April 2015

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said the BNP-led 20-Party Alliance is working against Bangladesh in foreign countries, report agencies.
At a discussion in New York's Bangladesh Consulate Office on Friday, Mr Amu, also Awami League (AL) presidium member said: "A group that tried to deny Bangladesh its independence and sovereignty had been planning to destroy the progress that the country is making under the present reign of Sheikh Hasina."
He said the people have come out to work despite their blockades and shutdowns, so the alliance has started instigating violence.
"Their destructive movements are not only against the government but also against the country. They are still active in spreading around false propaganda even when abroad," he said.
Consul General Md Shameem Ahsan, Bangladesh's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, AK Abdul Momen were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister and AL presidium member Matia Chowdhury said on Saturday that the 20-party combine leader Khaleda Zia had been giving call for siege-hartal staying at her home for nearly three months which did not evoke people's response.
"The 20-party combine leader wants to turn Bangladesh into a Taliban state unleashing terrorism in Afghan style but her dream will never come true as people have already rejected her siege-hartal programmes," Matia Chowdhury said this while speaking as the chief guest at the triennial council of Nakla Upazila AL at the Upazila auditorium in the district.
Chairman of the council preparatory committee Prof Mustafizur Rahman presided over the first session.
BSS report adds: Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said on Saturday there is no possibility to hold the next general elections before 2019.
"The country is now witnessing democracy and politics of development as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina conducted the January 5, 2014 elections in the country taking risk of her life," he said this while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of Satkhira Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) in Satkhira.
