20 RMG workers injured

At least 20 workers were injured on Friday evening as they hastily tried to get out of a multi-storey building in Ashulia, Savar, that houses several readymade garment (RMG) factories. Locals said a fire broke out at an apparels factory in Narsinghpur in the outskirts of Dhaka city, in afternoon. An electric short-circuit in the server room of the factory, ‘Medlar Apparels Limited’, started the fire around 2:15pm, said Industrial Police’s ASP Shahidul Islam. He said 20 workers were injured while hastily trying to get out of the 9-storey building. But the factory’s own fire-fighting team managed to extinguish the fire before two units of Fire Service from DEPZ station reach the spot. The fire completely gutted the server room. The management later closed the factory for a day, report agencies.
