FE Report
Twenty out of fifty four teams have battled their way to the second round of Financial IT Case Competition (FICC) which will begin in the city on August 8.
Five teams will be selected for the gala round from the twenty teams, Citibank NA officials told the FE Monday.
The competition intends to produce skilled human resources for the financial sector, added the sources.
At the gala round to be held on August 29, top three teams will be selected. The champion team will be awarded US$ 5,000, the first and second runners up will get US$ 2000 and US$ 1000 respectively.
The competition which is first of its kind in Bangladesh is providing an opportunity for undergraduate students of different public and private universities and institutions to compete in the development of unique software and information system solutions for the financial sector in Bangladesh.
Direct participation of the stakeholders in the process of development in the form of a contest would create awareness on the huge possibility of adoption of technology in business sectors, the bank sources said.
The goal of this competition was to promote a culture of business and technology development amongst the future leaders of the country based on local needs and global business demands.
The FICC was also aimed at fostering a prudent attitude towards knowledge on business and technology amongst university students and gaining insights for real-life implementations.
In all three rounds of the competition, a panel of eminent professionals has been assessing the case solutions based on the project evaluation guidelines. University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has been engaged in this competition as the university partner.
The FICC is funded by Citi Foundation and organised by Development Research Network (D Net).
