20 villages flooded in Sherpur

At least 20 villages in Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur have been flooded as 200-meters of a flood control embankment on the Bhogai River collapsed in the morning due to heavy rain and onrush of water from the upstream for the last few days.
Several thousand people of those villages, including Nalitabari, Marichpuran, Jogania, Khalbhanga, Nalkura, Kharkhariakanda, Gojakura, Banshkanda, Kayarpar and Kapashia under Kalashpar union, have been marooned due to the flashflood.
Besides, the roads and seedbeds of the villages went under water and fishes of around 50 ponds were washed way by the sudden flood, a news agency report said.
