200 families evacuated in Ctg

Chittagong city authority and Police have evacuated 200 families living in the foothills of Battali Hill and Motijhorna Hill area in the port city. They have been taken to safe refuge after incessant rain and severe water logging hit the south-eastern divisional headquarters and commercial hub of the country. City Police Commissioner (Panchlaish zone) Deepak Jyoti Khisa said ‘We have taken the vulnerable families to Tigerpass Government Primary School. Police are urging families through mike to leave city’s risky Dhebar Paar, Pora Colony and Baijid neighborhood,’ said Khisa. Echoing Khisa’s claim, Chittagong Additional District Commissioner (Revenue) S M Abdul Quader said apart from evicting families, people living in risky hills were asked to leave the areas, according to bdnews24.com.
