HABIGANJ, June 3 (Agencies): The RAB has come across a big haul of arms including 200 rocket launchers Tuesday in the Satchharhi jungles of Chunarughat Upazila in the district, a place that was once perhaps the headquarters of the now-weakened All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF).
In a drive at Satchhari jungles in the upazila, members of elite force Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered the arms that include about 200 rocket launchers, anti-tank explosives, mortar shells, chargers for rocket launchers.
Satchharhi is barely 3 km away from the border with India's Tripura state.
The recovery at Satchharhi Tuesday is the single biggest case of arms seizure since the 2004 Chittagong arms haul.
A team of over 100 members of Rab-9, led by Rab additional director general (Operation) Col Ziaul Ahsan and media wing director Wing Commander Habibur Rahman, conducted a special drive at the jungles in the morning and recovered the arms and ammunition from five bunkers.
Both briefed the media on the operations and confirmed the seizures.
