2008 Korean Speech Contest held

The 2008 Korean Speech Contest was held in the city Thursday. The Contest had been jointly organised by the Korean Embassy and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Bangladesh Office in cooperation with the Korea Overseas Volunteers and students of the Dhaka University. brThe contest, which is a regular event, is held since 2002 considering the growing popularity of the Korean language in Bangladesh as well as to provide students, who have been learning Korean, an opportunity to prove their proficiency and encourage them to work harder. The contest is open to all Bangladeshis who can communicate in Korean. brThis time five contestants took part in the event to compete each others' proficiency in Korean on contemporary topics, reflecting the usefulness of the Korean language. Of them, Mr Hasan stood 1st, while Ms Joti and Mr. Jahid became the 2nd and 3rd runner-up, respectively. At the end of the contest, Ambassador Park Suk Bum, Professor SMA Faiz, Vice Chancellor, University of Dhaka and Mr Yoon Hee, President of Korean Community in Bangladesh handed over certificates and prizes to the winners for their brilliant performance.
