2011 bus arson: Charge-sheeted accused held

A charge-sheeted accused in an arson case was arrested from Temukhi under Moglabazar Police Station of Sylhet district on Friday night. The arrested is Nazrul Islam Turan, 30, son of Abdus Salam, a resident of Silam Tikarpara village in South Surma Upazila. He was one of the main accused in a case filed for torching a bus in South Surma Upazila in 2011 during a hartal which left left the father of film actress Shabnur dead. Police said being informed a police team conducted a drive at Temukhi and arrested Turan around 9:00pm. On December 18, 2011, miscreants set a bus on fire in South Surma during the opposition-enforced general strike that left Shabnur's father Kazi Nasir dead and several other passengers injured, according to UNB.
