FE Report | Friday, 15 May 2015
Some 22 Bangladeshis, who were cheated by dishonest manpower recruiters, returned from Brunei on Thursday.
Being promised good jobs with handsome salary and better life the workers travelled to the country four or five months back.
Messers Rabbi International and Ijtema International sent the workers to the country.
Jewel Rana, hailing from Faridpur, told the FE that he went to Brunei through Messers Rabbi International.
The recruiting company promised him to give job of gardening. But he did not get any fixed job. The agency charged him Tk 470,000 as migration cost which was collected by selling his land.
"I was forced to do odd jobs where I did not get any salary and other minimum facilities," he said.
"My other colleagues also faced the same sufferings," Mr Rana said adding that every victim spent up to Tk 450,000 for securing job in Brunei.
Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) will take necessary steps against the offenders in this connection, said officials.
