22 detained in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel arrested 22 Bangladesh nationals while entering the country through Putkhali border point in Benapole on Tuesday night, after going to India illegally. The arrestees hail from different areas of Jessore, Narail, Satkhira and Bagerhat districts. BGB Battalion-23 sources said being tipped off, a team of the border force conducted a drive in the area at about 10:00pm and arrested six women, four children and 12 men while they were trying to enter the Bangladesh territory during their return from India without valid documents. Later, BGB troops handed them over to Benapole Port Police Station. A case was filed, according to UNB.
