22 held for assaulting AL MP in Ctg

Police in an overnight drive arrested 22 people for their suspected involvement in assaulting Awami League MP Abu Reza M Nezamuddin in Lohagorah upazila here on Friday night. Shahjahan, officer-in-charge of Lohagorah police station, said 22 Jamaat-Shibir activists were arrested from different parts of the upazila for their involvement in the pre-planned attack on MP Nezamuddin. Earlier, Awami League MP Abu Reza M Nezamuddin, elected from Chittagong-15 constituency, faced an unexpected humiliation at a religious function at Chunati in Lohagorah upazila as a group of people hurled water-bottles and some other objects at him on Friday night, according to a news agency.
