22 poachers held in Khulna

KHULNA, Nov 21: Forest department arrested 22 poachers and seized a trawler with traps for catching spotted deer from Patkosta area under Khulna range of Sundarban Saturday.
Forest department sources said, in a secret information the forest guards raided Patkosta area under the comportment number-19 of Sundarban and chased a trawler while illegally entering into Sundarbans for catching deer with traps and other equipment. At one stage they stopped the trawler and arrested 22 poachers and seized traps and other equipment from the trawler on Saturday.
Nasir Ahmed officer in charge of Patkosta police range said the arrested poachers entered into the restricted forest area without permission for hunting deer. He also said the gang of the poacher entered into the forest by taking chance of Rash Mela.
The arrested persons were handed over to the Judicial Magistrate Court of Koyra of the district.
