228,256 posts lying vacant in different ministries

State Minister for Public Administration Begum Ismat Ara Sadeque said Tuesday some 228,256 posts are lying vacant in different ministries, reports BSS.
Replying to a question of treasury bench member M Anwarul Azim, she told the House that it is a continuous process to fill up the vacant posts in the government sector.
"The government has recommended to appoint 1,195 Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) qualified candidates out of 21,420 in various ministries as class-one non-cadre officers from 28th to 33rd BCS," she said while replying to a another question of treasury bench member M Abdullah. She said that the government published a gazette notification on non-cadre recruitment special policy-2010 to recommend appointment of the BCS qualified candidates in the government jobs, who passed BCS examinations, as class-one non-cadre officer.
Ismat Ara said some 21,420 examinees qualified the BCS examinations from 28th to 33rd, but they were not recommended for appointing in the various cadres due to shortage of vacant post.
1,195 BCS qualified candidates have been recommended for appointment to the vacant posts in the different ministries, she told the House.
"The process of recruitment of non-cadre post like BCS cadre post will be completed soon," the State Minister informed.
