23 new cases, no deaths in BD

Twenty-three new Covid-19 cases and zero death from the virus were reported in Bangladesh on Sunday.
The figures were 10 and zero respectively on Saturday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the latest daily counts, the total fatalities from Covid-19 reached 29,127 in the country since the virus was detected in the country in March 2020,
Some 5,599 samples were tested during the last 24 hours until 8:0am on Sunday while 5,720 samples were collected during the period.
However, the Covid-19 test positivity rate inched up to 0.41 per cent on the day on the day from the previous day's 0.38 per cent.
According to the DGHS, a total of 263 people recovered from the coronavirus disease in the country during the last 24-hour reporting time.
The rate of recovery was 97.17 per cent on the day, the DGHS figures revealed.
However, the rate of fatalities from coronavirus disease remained static at1.49 per cent on the day.
According to the official data, the total Covid-19 cases have exceeded 1.95 million in Bangladesh and more than 1.89 million of them had recovered from the deadly disease.
Meanwhile, nearly 14 million samples have been tested across the country so far.
UNB report adds: The overall number of Covid cases has surpassed 517 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total case count mounted to 517,069,385 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,250,536 on Sunday morning.
The US has recorded 81,858,744 cases so far and 997,503 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.
India's Covid-19 tally rose to 43,115,573 on Sunday, with 20,635 new cases registered in 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.
Besides, as many as 40 deaths were reported across the country due to the pandemic since Saturday morning taking the total death toll to 524,064.
