24 accused in N\\\'ganj 7-murder produced before court

Twenty-four accused in the sensational 7-murder case were produced before a Narayanganj court on Monday. The accused, including former Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) officers Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Arif Hossain and MM Rana, were brought to the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate AHM Shafiqul Islam for a hearing in 2 cases filed over the 7-murder. After the day’s proceedings, the court fixed January 22 for the next hearing. Talking to reporters after the hearing, Narayanganj Bar Association's president Sakhawat Hossain Khan expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in framing the charges against the accused. The association members brought out a procession on the court campus on Monday morning, demanding capital punishment of the accused. On April 27, Narayanganj City Corporation's panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah of Narayanganj. Hours after their abduction, senior lawyer at district Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to Dhaka. Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from Shitalakkha River on April 30. The next day, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul, was recovered from Dhaleswari River, according to a news agency.
