24-member 'border trade coordination' committee formed

Bangladesh Customs has formed a 24-member 'border trade coordination' committee in a bid to facilitate import-export and transit trade.
The body would work as per World Trade Organisation (WTO) guidelines under 12-point action plan to improve services in air, land and seaports, says a press statement of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
It would maintain mutual interaction and communication to establish one-stop border point, coordinated border management, integrated border management, indentify barriers on import-export and transit trade and implement national trade facilitation committee's decisions.
Customs commissioners in all customs houses and stations would be convener of the committee, comprising of port authority, civil aviation, Bangladesh Railway, land port, border guard, immigration, Special Branch, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Biman, Plant Quatrain, the Department of Agricultural Extension, ministries of agriculture, livestock, explosive directorate, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Standard Testing Institute (BSTI), Sonali Bank, Bangladesh Bank, clearing and forwarding association, chambers of commerce and industry, freight forwarders association, shipping agent association, courier service, Bangladesh Inland Container Depots Association, local police authority, customs intelligence, customs valuation etc.
WTO TFA article 2.2 and Article 8 has been followed to form the trade facilitation body.
