25 candidates submit nominations in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Dec 01: At least 25 candidates of four-party alliance led by BNP, Awami League, Bangladesh Jamaat Islami, CPB, LDP, Islami Andalan Bangladesh, Jaker Party, Jatiya Party, Tarikat Federation and some independent ones have submitted their nomination papers to Upazila Nirbahi Officers and Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur until Sunday afternoon.
From Faridpur-3 (Sadar Upazila), Mosharraf Hossain for Awami League, Ali Ahsan Muzahid of Bangladesh Jamaat Islami for four-party alliance, Choudhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf of BNP as neutral, Lyakot Hossain for LDP, Vishwajit Ganguli for Gana Forum and Iqbal Hossain Choudhury for Torikat Federation submitted their nomination papers.
Earlier on Saturday evening the BNP activists loyal to Shama Obaed, daughter of late BNP leader KM Obaedur Rahman, ransacked a passenger bus and held a procession against party nomination to KM Zahangir as the four-party candidate at Nagarkanda Upazila town of her constituency.
On Sunday noon Shama Obaed, candidate four-party alliance held a press conference at Faridpur Press Club in appreciation of the alliance's nomination for her candidacy.
Choudhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf, former BNP MP and minister also held a press conference at the club on Sunday afternoon against the party's decision for not allowing him to contest on four-party alliance's ticket. There he and his supporters have urged the high command to reconsider his nomination.
