25-km tailback on Dhaka-Tangail highway

An awesome 25-km tailback was created on Dhaka-Tangail highway from Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur on Friday, inflicting immeasurable sufferings on homebound people ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. Witnesses said the tailback was created on the road from Chandra intersection in Kaliakoir uapzila to Mirer Bazar in the early hours, leaving several thousand vehicles stranded. Vehicles were seen moving bumper-to-bumper on the highway. Traffic police said the tailback took place due to heavy pressure of vehicles, according to a news agency.
