250 tonnes rice imported through Benapole

JESSORE, Nov 27: Some 250 metric tonnes of rice were imported from India through Benapole land port on Tuesday. It was the first consignment out of some 4,500 metric tonnes of rice that India pledged to export to Bangladesh.
Abdul Aziz, assistant commissioner, Benapole Customs told journalists that the Bangladesh government has signed an agreement with the Indian counterpart to import some 4,500 metric tonnes of rice to be used as relief at disastrous area in the country . As part of the agreement, the first consignment of rice entered the country through Benapole land port on Tuesday. The next consignment will enter the country very soon.
