251 DU teachers demand release of Khaleda, two sons, their treatment

Some 251 teachers of Dhaka University (DU) have urged the government to release former Prime Minister (PM) and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her two sons and arrange their proper treatment, reports UNB.

In a joint statement Tuesday, they said that apart from compassionate grounds, the detained former PM and her two sons should be released in the interest of restoring democratic atmosphere in the country.

They expressed the hope that the caretaker government would prove its neutrality by taking quick steps in this regard.

The signatories to the statement included, among others, Sadrul Amin, Aminur Rahman Mazumder, M Sirajul Islam, Tajmeri SA Islam, Saidur Rahman, Quamrul Ahsan Chowdhury and Mahbubullah.
