Wednesday, 2 December 2009
The opposition BNP has made the final list of 2,512 councillors ahead of the party's fifth national council to be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on December 8.
Talking to reporters at the party's Naya Paltan office Tuesday, Office Secretary of the party Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said they have finalised the list of councillors Monday night, reports UNB.
Replying to a query, he said the convenor and number one joint convenor would be the councillors from the districts where councils could not be held in due time.
President and secretaries general of the existing committees of a few districts, like Manikganj and Dhaka, where the previous committees were not dissolved, would be the councillors.
Mr Rizvi told the newsmen that nearly 70 per cent of councils at the party's district, Thana, municipality and Union Parishad levels have been completed.
Councils of 48 out of the party's 72 organising districts were completed by Monday (November 30), the last date of holding district-level councils, he said.
The BNP office secretary said the total number of delegates for the national council is 12,000 with 40 delegates from each parliamentary constituency.
The delegate cards will be given through president and secretary general or convener of each district unit of the party.
Mr Rizvi said preparation for the BNP national council is at the final stage.
