252 held, contraband goods seized

RANGPUR, May 20 (BSS): Police, in separate drives, arrested 252 persons and seized contraband goods from different places in the district during the last 72 hours until this noon, police sources said. The arrested persons include black marketers, smugglers, absconding warrantees and accused persons, drug peddlers, traffickers and traders, muggers, thieves, extortionists and other anti-social elements. Pirganj police seized 50 sacs of rice allocated for Fair Price Sale while trafficking those and arrested black marketers Nurun Nabi (25) and Hassan Mian (16), from Pirganj Upazila. Kotwali police arrested 37 persons, Gangachara 16, Taraganj 14, Badarganj 17, Mithapukur 101, Pirganj 36, Pirgachha 15 and Kawnia police arrested 16 persons during the period, the sources said.
