Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) personnel seized 2.56 million Yaba pills from different parts of Chittagong district in the last seven months (January to July). The elite force came up with the disclosure at a press briefing of Rab-7 on Thursday. At the press briefing, the Rab sources said a team of Rab members conducted a drive in Nimtoli area in the city and arrested two people along with 80,000 pieces of Yaba tablet from a pickup van on Thursday morning. The RAB members also recovered Tk0.15 million cash from their possession. The market value of the seized Yaba tablets is Tk32 million. The arrested were identified as Jakir, 26, and Jashim Uddin Rana, 35. The duo had been earlier arrested with an alleged drug trader Jahidul Islam alias Alo on December 26, 2014. The Rab personnel recovered 0.21 million Yaba tablets, one foreign- made pistol, three rounds of bullet, a private car and a motorcycle from their possession in the December 26 drive. On December 27, Rab filed two separate cases against them with Halishohor Police Station--one under the Arms Act and another under the Narcotics Control Act. Later they were released on bail from a local court and made a comeback in illegal drug business, added the Rab sources, according to a news agency.
