26 killed in stampede in Mymensingh while taking Zakat

At least 26 people, mostly women, were killed and several others injured in a stampede in Mymensingh early this morning. The tragic incident occurred at about 4.45 am near a jorda (chewing tobacco) factory in the town as they went to collect Zakat clothes. The identities of the ill-fated people could not be known immediately. Meanwhile, police arrested six persons including the owner of the factory Md Shamim in this connection, according to BSS.
