26 more suspects indicted

The special court to try the Feb 25-26, 2009 killings and looting inside the BDR headquarters at Pilkhana has admitted charges against 26 new suspects, reports bdnews24.com.
With them, the number of the people facing the charges reached 850.
The special bench of the Judge's Court of Dhaka, set at a field adjacent to the Alia Madrasah and Dhaka Central Jail, took the charges into cognisance as hearing in the case began at 10:00 am Monday.
The court fixed Apr 12 as the next date for hearing in the case, until which time it was adjourned.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Mar 21 submitted the extended investigation report to the court adding the 26 new suspects to the list.
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was previously known as the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) when the trial of the massacre began.
On Jan 23, the border security force was officially renamed and a new flag of the paramilitary force was introduced.
