27 Indian fishermen sent to jail

BAGERHAT, Feb 9 (UNB): Twenty-seven Indian fishermen, who were arrested from the Bangladesh water territory in the Bay of Bengal here Sunday, were sent to jail Monday.
The judge of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate passed the order when Mongla thana police produced them before his court.
On Saturday, members of the Bangladesh Navy arrested the Indian fishermen along with two trawlers at the Fairway Buoy of the Bay of Bengal in Mongla Upazila for trespassing into the Bangladesh water territory.
They were handed over to the Mongla Police Station early Monday and a case was filed against them.
