28 Central Jail guards suspended

Authorities have suspended 28 guards of Dhaka Central Jail for allegedly cooperating with VIP prisoners in availing of undue facilities at the prison cell of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Meanwhile, four detained ex-BNP leaders -- Mirza Abbas, Wadud Bhuiyan, Moudud Ahmed and Nazmul Huda -- have been served with show-cause notices by the prison authorities. — UNB
