28 houses gutted in Bandarban

A devastating fire brunt down at least 28 dwelling houses in Roangchhari upazila in Bandarban district on Friday night. Fire service sources said the fire originated from a kitchen at a house Waingbang Para area and soon engulfed 27 other adjoining houses around 10:00 pm. On information, one firefighting unit from the fire station in Bandarban Sadar rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the help of the locals after midnight. At least two people received injuries while extinguishing the blaze. The fire-affected people who have been rendered homeless are now living under the open sky. Bir Bahadur, state minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts affairs, assured rehabilitation and government aid for the victims, according to UNB.
