28 opposition men jailed in Kishoreganj

Twenty-eight leaders and activists of the Kishoreganj unit of BNP have been jailed for three years for assault on police and vandalism. Judge of Kishoreganj Speedy Trial Court Alaul Akbar delivered the verdict on Tuesday. Eleven of the accused were present when the judge handed down the sentence. Two of the accused are already behind bars in another case. Fifteen others are absconding. According to case details, the BNP men clashed with police during a programme in Kishoreganj on January 29, 2012. They assaulted cops at the time and vandalised several vehicles including the car of the then superintendent of police. Kishoreganj Model Police Station’s Sub-Inspector ATM Mahmudul Haque had lodged the case later, according to UNB.
