28,900 Yaba pills recovered in Cox’s Bazar: 1 held

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel in two separate drives recovered 28,900 pieces of Yaba tablet and arrested a woman in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday. Acting on secret information that a big consignment of smuggled amphetamine Yaba tablets was entering the country from a neighbouring country, a BGB team conducted a drive at Moulvir Para point in the Naf River and seized 24,000 pieces of the contraband tablet from a boat around 8.00pm, said Commanding Officer of BGB 42 battalion Lieutenant Colonel Abujar Al Jahid. However, the smugglers managed to flee sensing presence of the border guards. Earlier, a team of police led by Mohamamd Moktar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station, conducted a raid at the house of one Jafar Alam and recovered 4,900 pieces of Yaba from the house around 4:30 pm, according to UNB.
