29 diagnosed with anthrax in Sirajganj

Some 29 people have been infected with anthrax in Ullapara and Shahjadpur upazilas of Sirajganj district. Of them, 20 have been diagnosed with the disease at Char Nandigati village in Ullapara while the rest at Koijuri village in Shahjadpur, said health officials. Dr Sukumar Sur Roy, health and family planning officer of Ullapara, said 20 residents of the Char Nandigati village have fallen ill after eating meat of a sick cow on August 16. Confirming the anthrax infection, Civil Surgeon of the district Dr Shamsuddin said the infected people were being provided with treatment at their respective houses, according to a news agency.
