293 out of 557 CNG filling stations run without licence

At least 293 CNG filling stations out of 557 are operating across the country without taking any licence from the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC). The data was revealed at the 7th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Tajul Islam in the chair. The parliamentary watchdog recommended the government to bring the 293 CNG stations under licensing system fixing a logical fee for license after discussions between the ministry and the BERC. At the meeting, the committee said the system loss in power distribution has come down to 11.96 per cent in fiscal 2013-2014 from 16.26pc in fiscal 2006-2007, according to a news agency.
