2,950 bottles Phensidyl recovered: 1 held

Police in a drive arrested a man along with 2,950 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup in Elenga bus stand area of Kalihati Uapzila of Tangail district on Thursday. The arrestee was identified as Aksar Ali, 42, son of Abdus Sattar of Kabilpur village in Chaugachha upazila of Jessore district. Aslam Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Kalihati police station, said acting on secret information, a team of police intercepted a Dhaka-bound private car near Elenga bus stand foot over bridge and after a search recovered 14 sacks containing 2,950 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from the vehicle. Later police arrested Aksar Ali. He was wanted in several cases, including for smuggling, with Chaugachha Police Station, added the OC, according to a news agency.
