29,694 hectares for wheat cultivation in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Dec 25 (BSS): Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken up an extensive programme for wheat cultivation in the district during the current season. A DAE source said a total of 29, 694 hectares of land brought under wheat cultivation in the current season with a target to produce 91, 544 metric tons of wheat. The sources said 7,000 hectares of land cultivated in Panchagarh sadar upazila, 6,194 hectares in Boda upazila, 5, 300 hectares in Debiganj upazila, 6, 000 hectares in Atowary upazila and 5, 200 hectares in Tetulia upazila. Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) supplied necessary seeds, DAE extended necessary technical assistance and RAKUB provided soft loan to growers to boost up wheat production in the district, the DAE sources said.
