CHATTOGRAM: The strike of Chittagong port workers has hampered the maritime trade in the country.
The operational activities of Chittagong Port, the prime sea port of the country, remained suspended for a second consecutive day on Sunday as the port workers continued a work stoppage protesting the planned lease of the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) to Dubai-based DP World.
As a result, loading and unloading of goods at the outer anchorage of Chittagong sea port remained halted. Besides, cargo transportation activities through lighter vessels and trucks, lorries etc also suspended for the second day.
