2nd merit list for college admission out
Tuesday, 7 July 2015
A second merit list of students aspiring to enrol in colleges is up on the website www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd. Dhaka education board’s College Inspector Asfakus Salehin says altogether 17,647 students have been selected for admission. The list includes 10,726 new students and another 6,921, who had applied for different colleges after enrolling in other institutions. Many students were dropped from the first merit list since they did not mention the five preferred colleges in their applications, Salehin said. “There were some issues but they are almost taken care of now,” he said, adding “All the candidates will be able to enrol in colleges.” Colleges have been admitting students based on their SSC results for the past several years. Those included on the second merit list will be able to enrol on Tuesday and Wednesday. The first list was published on June 28 midnight, three days behind schedule, due to technical glitches. Students and guardians alleged harassment in the admission process, while many colleges did not get the list in time. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid apologised for the trouble on Sunday. He said the students would be able to enrol without paying any late fee until July 26, according to bdnews24.com.
