3 alleged robbers lynched in Comilla

COMILLA, Dec 4: Local people lynched three suspected robbers at Eliotganj Bazar near Daudkandi in Comilla early Saturday, police said. They said, quoting local people that the unidentified victims were running away after killing one Sirajul Islam, 48, from Telia Mainka area of Muradnagar Upazila. Daudkandi police chief Kawsar Ahmed told reporters that Sirajul had stopped a microbus for a lift while the passengers, getting off the vehicle, shot him dead. The local people seized the vehicle and beat the four passengers leaving three of them dead on the spot. The other passenger of the microbus, identified as Abu Taher, was arrested, police said. They said the local people suspected the passengers to be robbers.
