3 BNP leaders get 6-month anticipatory bail

The High Court on Sunday granted six months’ anticipatory bail to BNP leaders Mirza Abbas, Amanullah Aman and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy in a case filed in connection with the killing of a Shibir activist on December 29. An HC bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Jafar Ahmed passed the order after hearing over three separate petitions submitted by their lawyers seeking bail. The accused BNP leaders appeared before the court during the hearing over the petitions. An Islami Chhatra Shibir man was killed during a clash between police and 18-party activists during their ‘March for Democracy programme’ in Malibagh area in Dhaka city on December 29 last year. A case was filed with Rampura police station in this connection on Dec 30 accusing the three BNP leaders and some unknown people, according to UNB.
