3 cases filed against 267 in Daganbhuiyan

Police have filed three cases over polls violence at Daganbhuiyan Upazila in Feni district. The cases were filed on Sunday night against 267 people. Thirty-seven of them were named, including BNP-backed chairman candidate Akbar Hossain, said Daganbhuiyan Police Station OC Md Nizam Uddin. Police are yet to arrest anybody. Balloting took place in Daganbhuiyan on Saturday amid firings, snatching of ballot boxes, arson, vandalism and rigging. Six people sustained bullet injuries that day. Actions were also taken against three polling officers and seven others for abetting rigging. Vote was halted in the Upazila’s three centres due to violence, according to bdnews24.com.
