3 cases filed over RU student\\\'s death

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, April 4: Three separate cases have been filed over the unusual death of Wahida Shifat, a former student of Mass Communication & Journalism (MCJ) Department at Rajshahi University (RU), who was allegedly killed for dowry by her husband and others, sources said.
Mehedi Hasan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajpara police station told the newsmen that Mizanur Rahman, uncle of the deceased filed the cases on Thursday night.
The cases were filed against Shifat's husband Mohammed Asif, her father-in-law Mohammad Hossain Ramjan and mother-in-law Nazmun Nahar Nazli under section 11 (A) of Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act, 2000, OC also added.
As per case's statements Shifat's husband Asif had been pressuring on her since long to bring Tk 2 million (20 lakh) from her father for business purpose. Asif used to torture her physically and mentally, as she (Shifat) was not responding to his demand. It is mentioned that on March 29 around 9:25pm the members of Shifat's in-laws found her laying inside her bedroom.
