3 children hurt in city bomb blast

Three children received injuries as a crude bomb they were playing with mistaking it for a toy went off in Lalbagh area in the city on Wednesday. The injured children, identified as Rifat, 4, son of late Amzad Hossain, Sultana Akhter, 7, daughter of Liakat Ali, and Sadia, 10, are residents of Islambagh under Lalbagh police station. Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), quoting the victims’ family members, said Rifat Sultana and Sadia found an object, containing the crude bomb, which blasted all of a sudden with a big bang after they started playing with it taking it for a toy at Commissioner Goli in Islambagh around 9:30am. Both the legs of Sultana, the two cheeks of Rifat and one hand of Sadia were badly damaged by the explosion. The injured children were admitted to the DMCH in critical condition, according to UNB.
