3-day tourism fair opens

CHITTAGONG, Nov 24: A three-day tourism fair started at Hotel Peninsula in the city today. Regent Airways and English fortnightly magazine Bangladesh Monitor jointly organized the fair that will end on November 26.
Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Alhaj M Manjur Alam inaugurated the fair titled Regent Airways Monitor Chittagong Travel Mart 11 in the morning.
The Mayor said the country's southeast region of Chittagong and Cox's Bazar have huge tourism potential including the world's longest sea beach and a vast tract of hills and dales and rivers.
The government has taken up schemes to build tourism industry in the country recently. He urged the private entrepreneurs to join hands with the government in exploiting the tourism potential.
Asian countries like China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia have developed the tourism industry by the government and private sector entrepreneurs, he said.
He urged the printing and electronic media to make more reports on the tourism industry.
