3 die in Comilla road crash

At least three people were killed and two others injured in a collision between a covered van and an auto-rickshaw in Jagorjhuli on the Dhaka-Cittagong highway in Sadar upazila in Comilla on Sunday. Among the deceased, two were identified as Sharif Ahmed, 27, son of Abdus Sattar of Gopalpur village in Brahmanbaria and Shagor, 35, resident of Chittagong. Officer-in-charge of Moinamati Police Station Moshiur Rahman said a Chittagong-bound covered van from Dhaka collided with a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw in the area around 7am, leaving two auto-rickshaw passengers – Sharif and Shagor – dead on the spot and injuring three others inside the auto-rickshaw. The injured were rushed to the Comilla Medical College Hospital where another unidentified victim succumbed to his injuries. Police seized both the vehicles, but the driver of the covered van managed to escape, according to UNB.
