3 DSCC officials face contempt charges

Wednesday, 7 May 2014

The High Court issued Tuesday a contempt of court rule against three officials of Dhaka South City Corporation for violating its earlier order, reports UNB.
After preliminary hearing a petition, an HC bench comprising Justice Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Ashraful Kamal asked the DSCC administrator, the chief executive and the secretary to explain in two weeks as to why contempt of court proceedings should not be drawn against them.
Following a writ petition, the HC on July 23, 2009 asked the authorities concerned to regularise the job of 88 employees of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC).
On March 6, 2013, the Supreme Court passed an order upholding the HC order when a leave to appeal was filed against the HC order.
However, the authorities did not implement the court order.
As the DCC was bifurcated, the petitioner appealed to the court to bring contempt of court charges against DSCC.
