3 get life-term in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, Jun 14 (UNB): Three of a family were sentenced to life-term imprisonment by a court here Thursday for killing a minor girl five years ago.
The court also fined the convicts Sachin Chandra (40), his wife Jotsna Rani (35) and his brother Prakash Chandra (38) of Mohishkur village in Ashashuni upazila Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer more six months rigorous imprisonment (RI).
According to the prosecution, Hira Moni, minor daughter of Idris Ali of Mohishkur village, went missing on August 27, 2003 and her body was found in a nearby pond after three days. Idris Ali filed a murder case in Ashashuni upazila and OC Abdus Salam submitted charge sheet against Sachin Chandra, his wife and brother on March 9, 2004.
After examining the 20 witnesses and records Judge of District and Sessions Judge Court-1 M Mahabubur Rahman pronounced the verdict.
