3 guards suspended for jailbreak bid by JMB men

COMILLA, Nov 26: Three prison guards were suspended Monday on charge of negligence of duty as five JMB activists tried to escape from the district jail Sunday night. The suspended jail guards were Anwar Hossain, Ramjan Ali and Abdus Sobhan. Meantime, security has been beefed up in all the jails of the country following the incident, DIG (Prisons) Major Shamsul Haider Siddiqui told newsmen. Five JMB activists, including the detained son of its executed chief Shaeikh Abdur Rahman, made a violent attempt to escape from the district jail Sunday night, leaving five policemen seriously wounded. —UNB
