3 held, microbus seized from AL leader\\\'s house

Police arrested three people and seized a microbus Saturday afternoon from the house of city Awami League (AL) leader and Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) councillor Nur Hossain, the prime accused in the case filed in connection with the abduction and killing of NCC panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his four associates.
The police action came while the law-enforcers rescued six people abducted earlier from different parts of the country, report agencies.
Police cordoned off the residence of Nur Hosain, vice-president of AL Siddhirganj unit, at 10:45 am.
They conducted a raid on information that a clandestine meeting was going on in that house, the police official said.
Police detained 12 persons from the house of Nur Hossain during the raid.
They also seized a green microbus, a bloodstained cloth and a knife from the house.
A team of the police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) examined the seized vehicle and other things.
On Sunday last, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver, were abducted by miscreants from Fatullah area of the city. Hours after their abduction, senior lawyer at district Judge's Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.
Members of law enforcement agencies have rescued six people including two students and businessmen from different places in the country, reports BSS.
The law enforcers also arrested seventeen criminals in this connection.
The rescued people are Akramul Alam Dipu, 15, Abir Alam, 10, Abdul Hakim, 40, Saiful Islam, 38, Saifur Rahman Shamser and Abul Bashar, 40.
Some of the criminals arrested were identified as Ershad, 25, Azizur Rahman, 34, Ismail, 20, Arshadul, 20, Nargis Akhter, Rubel Farhad and Jony.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) formed a 40-member anti-kidnap squad to prevent abduction, according to a DMP source.
"We have formed a squad of 40 members headed by an additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of police to stop kidnap and arrest abductors," Monirul Islam, joint commissioner and spokesman for the DMP said Saturday.
He said the squad would monitor activities of the criminals released from jails after securing bails.
Police rescued a class ten student Akramul Alam Dipu, 15, from Kalihati of Tangail Thursday evening, a day after his abduction from Chandina of Gazipur and arrested five persons in this regard, police headquarters sources said.
Police also seized a private car (bearing the number Dhaka Metro-Kha 11-1838) used in the kidnap and Taka 4,000 out of Tk 25,000 extorted from the family inmates of Dipu as ransom.
Dipu along with a cell phone was kidnapped from Chandina of Gazipur district around 4pm on April 29.
Police rescued a businessman Abdul Hakim, who was kidnapped from Bangshal area in the capital on Thursday.
