Police have arrested three young men for their suspected involvement with abduction and murder of seven people in Narayanganj. The law enforcers have also seized a microbus from the house of Nur Hossain, the prime accused in a case over the murders, said Narayanganj Superintendent of Police Khandaker Mohiduddin. “The names of the three arrested persons are not mentioned in the case but police are gathering information on them,” he said. He said the seized microbus also appeared to be suspicious. Seven people, including Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC)’s panel mayor Nazrul Islam and the district judge’s court’s lawyer Chandan Sarker, were killed and their bodies dumped in Shitalakkha and Dhaleshwari rivers after their abduction in Narayanganj on Sunday last. Police recovered seven bodies from the two rivers on Wednesday-Friday. Narayanganj SP Mohiduddin said the Criminal Investigation Department were already informed about the arrests and seizure. Police recovered the cell phone of slain lawyer Advocate Chandan Sarker from Dhaka, the SP said. “The cell phone was used for the last several days,” he said. Earlier around 11.30am, police raided Nur Hossain’s residence at Shimrile in Siddhirganj in the outskirts of Narayanganj city. NCC councilor Nazrul’s wife Selina Islam Beauty had filed a criminal case of abduction against Siddhirganj unit Awami League Vice-President Nur Hossain and General Secretary Haji Md Yasin. The raid was conducted on information that a clandestine meeting was going on in that house, the police official said, according to bdnews24.com.
